First Practice of 2010 Announced

February 17th, 2010

The first practice for the 2010 Marching Band season will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 7:00 pm at the GP Composite High School Band room.  While the prospective tour to Alaska has been cancelled for 2010, the band will be embarking on a smaller regional tour and is looking to increase its membership as it looks towards a possible tour to Malaysia in 2011 or London in 2012.  If you are at least 12 years of age and play a musical instrument, come on out and see what the Grande Prairie Marching Band has to offer you.

The Marching Band successfully completed the 2008 Marching Season and greatly enjoyed multiple local and international performances. The band performed locally at the Sexsmith Chautauqua Day parade. The end of June saw the marching band head off to China to participate in the International Marching Band Salute to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Upon our return we performed in Parades in Donnelly and Beverlodge as well as Grande Prairie’s 50th Anniversary Ticker Tape Parade and Grande Prairie’s Rememberance Day Celebration.
