Xian city wall was seen in the morning with morning exercise given by a 2-seater bicycle ridden on 600 years of history. The Pagoda temple tour was done after the city wall followed by our flight to Shanghai.

An early morning rise to go see the terracotta warriors. 2 out of 3 pits were done before lunch and after the 3rd pit we were able to go and meet the farmer who discovered the warriors. We then headed back to Xian for a performance and photo opportunity outside the Pagoda temple. For dinner we were treated to a dumpling restaurant for all our hard work performing in 40-degree weather with little wind.

The band took in 3 main tourist attractions today: The Temple of Heaven, Tiananman Square and the Forbidden City.  All were very informative but the Forbidden City tired the band out most after a 6-hour tour.  The evening was given as free time after dinner at a local resaurant.

- Ambassadorship on band tours

Erin Lowry Memorial Award

Awarded to a GPMB member under the age of 18 for displaying leadership, enthusiasm and for band participation.
Criteria: Under the age of 18 as of January 1 of the current year. Band participation includes attendance at practices, performances and fundraising.

Al Schmidt Memorial Award

Al Schmidt Memorial Award Awarded to a member of the GPMB showing the most improvement in their musical and marching performance.
Criteria: Open to any active member of the GPMB.
Musical performance includes practices, concerts and parades as well as any participation in one of the offshoot groups like the Dixieland Band or the Bierwurste Group. This includes the Color Guard.

Rookie of the Year

Rookie of the year Award Awarded to a first year member of the GPMB showing great enthusiasm and participation.
Criteria: Open to any first year active member of the GPMB. Band participation includes attendance at practices, performances and fundraising. Enthusiasm at all events and practices
